The term Kosa is derived from the Sanskrit word Kosha, which means cocoon. Tussar silk was highly valued for its natural sheen, texture, and durability. The weaving flourished in various regions of India, including Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. Each region developed its own unique techniques and styles of tussar silk weaving, resulting in a naverse range of designs and patterns.
